How You Can Give Hope This Easter

What a beautiful time of the year. The earth is throwing off the remnants of a harsh, cold, winter. Flower and grasses that seemed to be dead are springing back to life and beautiful colors of the rainbow come back.

Sadly, many children of the world have no hope whatsoever. They don’t remember much of the past, the present is only an existence and they have nothing in the future to look forward to.

Children from many nations are not valued. They are treated like animals, as simple beast of burden. Some are expected to work hard, long hours with little or no payment. Others are abandoned, left alone to fend for themselves with no hope for today or tomorrow.

But you and I can bring hope in the middle of sorrow and turmoil. Through teamwork, we can all work together to show the love of Christ to these children. With your generosity, we can mobilize meals and supplies. With God’s guidance, we can bring food to those who need it most, while partners on the ground provide safety, shelter, education and an understanding of the goodness of a great God.

Yes, it is a great time of the year. Beautiful spring has arrived and we have the opportunity to bring hope and beauty to the lives of children around the world.

Will you help us show the love of God to these little ones? We need your help. More importantly, the children need it.

Any amount will make a difference. Consider this:

$1.00 = 20 meals
$25.00 = 500 meals
$50.00 = 1,000 meals
$100.00 = 2,000 meals
$250.00 = 5,000 meals

How many meals can you give? How many children’s lives can be forever impacted because you have chosen to bring hope to the hopeless this Easter?

Rebuilding Nepal Through Food & Houses

A devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal on Saturday, April 25, 2015. More than 8,000 people were killed as a result. Survivors were in desperate need of food and clean water. In response, we teamed with ChurchAsia who was on the ground in Nepal. They needed our help to provide more food, shelter and clean water to those whose lives have been turned upside down by this natural disaster. Just take a look at some of the damage…

But now the rebuilding has begun. We sent over $10,700 to help with these relief efforts by providing food, temporary shelter in the form of tents and now permanent homes. In the immediate aftermath, our partners built temporary homes using the rubble of the earthquake-leveled homes. Since then, they have built 80 permanent homes for around $1,500 each. What an opportunity!

We are thankful for the opportunity to help in response to such an overwhelming tragedy. Please join with us so we can bring more food and hope to those who need it most.

Zambia: How to be a Part of Something Good

Sometimes many words aren’t necessary. And so, we share this mission update with you with few words. If you want to see the difference we are making in the lives of hungry children around the world, just look at these beautiful children who attend Legacy Academy Schools in Lusaka, Zambia. Since these children began receiving food, their teachers have noticed an increase in attention and retention in school.

We have been committed to feeding thousands of children in Zambia each day. How do we do this? Because of people like you who say, “I want to be a part of that. I want to make a difference in the lives of these children.”

Lebanon: The Important Work of Feeding Refugees

Lebanon has become a place of refuge for Syrians and Iraqis who are fleeing their homes due to violence and unrest. Many of these refugees have witnessed atrocities firsthand. They have lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods and more. Out of desperation and with great risk, they have fled to a foreign land in hope of finding refuge.

We give thanks for our partner, Pastor G*, who has been working with Syrian and Iraqi refugees within Lebanon. In October, we provided Pastor G with over $10,000. With those funds, his ministry was able to provide the following:

100 boxes of food for the value of $50 each. 70 were distributed in the church to new refugees who had recently arrived in Beirut, and 30 were distributed in the camp in Hermel, which is located close to the borders between Lebanon and Syria.
50 vouchers of food with a value of $50 each. These vouchers were distributed before Christmas to the Iraqi and Syrian refugees whom have fled ISIS.
400 blankets
A Christmas event where gifts were distributed to children refugees, some who have lost their parents. As Pastor G said, “We were thrilled to see smiles on their faces. The message of salvation was given to children who have never heard about Christ before. Praise the Lord!!! Many responded to the altar call!!”

The work Pastor G is doing there is dangerous, but so important. We thank everyone who helped make this possible, because as you can see from what Pastor G said, together we are making a Kingdom difference:

“I would like to thank you for your support for the mission field in the Middle East. Your partnership with the church in Lebanon has helped thousands physically and spiritually, and the name of Jesus was glorified.

“Even with all the sad situations and bad news and issues that are happening around the world, I can tell you that the Gospel is being preached and thousands of Muslims have come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.”

Responding to Our Nation in Need

Last year, the city of Baltimore, MD, experienced violence and unrest in response to the death of Freddie Gray. To help the city heal, Feeding The Nations partnered with Rite of Passage to provide food and multivitamins for those in need.

We provided meals for the Beans & Bread Resource Center in Baltimore. The Center offers a comprehensive day program that offers lunch, shower and laundry services, healthcare, and shelter for the displaced. Volunteers prepared the meals and served them to those in need.

A portion of the vitamins were given to the Saint Joseph Church Soup and Shelter program. The shelter serves over 50 families in need each week by providing food, clothes and medical support.

While we do feed nations around the world, we also reach people within our own nation. Once our on-site warehouse is completed, we will be able to reach even more people within the borders of our own country. By having a stocked warehouse with items on hand, we will be able to respond quickly when needs arise, like after the riots in Baltimore. It may seem like it’s just a building, but the completion of the warehouse is about more than just brick and mortar. It’s about reaching more people in their times of greatest need.
