Can you imagine not having access to food, or the means financially to feed your children? Families in IDP (indigenous displaced persons) and refugee camps face this heartbreaking reality daily.
Feeding The Nations recently received a report from our partners in Iraq. Due to regional instability, our partner is one of the few organizations able to get food into Northern Iraq, the area also known as Kurdistan. The food is distributed to the IDPs and refugees currently residing in the many camps overseen by a local charity.
Many children in the camps suffer from malnourishment. The charity implemented a 90-day program tracking the progress of children ages 6 months through 5 years who were fed the fortified rice meals. Rebecca (her name has been changed for privacy), a one-year-old baby girl living in one of the camps with her family, is one of the children categorized as “severely malnourished” by the WHO. Her family was given the fortified food, and Rebecca’s growth progress was tracked. The results were astounding!
She is pictured here before and after receiving the food. In two short months, Rebecca gained 2 pounds! As you can imagine, this has brought great hope and relief to her family. They no longer feel helpless. Now, they are watching their daughter thrive on the road to recovery.
Thank you for your donations, you are truly making a difference!
