In partnership with Victory Christian Fellowship, we have already been able to secure and purchase in country canned meats, bottled water, biscuits, blankets and sleeping mats to help with immediate needs. FTN is now coordinating and planning to ship 1,560,000 meals between November 25 and December 2, as well as an ongoing effort to send food over the next six to 12 months as recovery continues (realizing that recovery for the Philippines will be a long process). Your help is still needed to make this possible. Click here to donate now.
Original article: Feeding The Nations has begun phase one of reaching the Philippines with emergency aid. This comes as a response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan that struck Friday, November 8. Recent reports say over 12 million people have been affected, 900,000 people have been displaced, 3,600 lives have been lost and many are still missing. Those who have survived are in need of food, clean water, shelter and more.
In response, we have developed a three-phase approach in an effort to meet immediate needs, as well as future ones because we know the process of recovery will take time. We are working with eight different agencies on logistics, operations and distribution of the food. All of these partnerships are carefully chosen with integrity, efficiency and effectiveness in mind.
The phases of our efforts are as follows:
Phase 1
Phase one of the relief efforts is already under way. FTN has provided cash for Victory Christian Fellowship, an agency with a large footprint in the Philippines, so they can purchase canned meats, bottled water, biscuits, blankets, sleeping mats and more to help with immediate needs.
Phase 2
Phase two includes sending 560,000 vitamin-fortified rice and vegetable meals before Thanksgiving. We have already secured the meals and will be shipping them soon.
Phase 3
This will be an ongoing effort to send food over the next six to 12 months as recovery continues. It will take time for the Philippines to recover from this devastation, so our efforts must not only be short-term. With support, we can continue to feed and show the love of Christ to the people of the Philippines over the months to come.
You can help make all of this possible. You can help bring food, supplies and the love of Christ to the hurting and hungry of the Philippines. To do so, join with us. We welcome donations of all sizes. Each one is vitally important to making these efforts possible.
