The following is an impact report we received from World Assist, who we partnered with to feed at-risk and homeless veterans, and their families in Norfolk, Va.:
More than 130,000 veterans are homeless and hungry on any given night in America. One in three homeless people in America is a U.S. military veteran. Nearly 3 million veterans and their families don’t have enough to eat each month. Many veterans are returning from war to a weak economy, and struggling with injuries, both physical and mental.
The instant soup packets were an especially popular item at the Tidewater Area Stand Down. We are always hoping for individually packaged food products that the veterans can tuck into a pocket or backpack for easy transport and access, but these types of items are rarely available. The vets were eager to receive the soup, which was placed into a “to-go” kit ahead of time.
Thank you, Feeding The Nations, for joining us in this effort to help those men and women who have been willing to sacrifice themselves for their fellow countrymen. We believe it is our duty to give back to these men and women who have given so much for our country. We could not do what we do without partners such as you. We, and those we serve, sincerely appreciate your generosity and that you continue to be a partner in our life saving work.

The soup was shipped to Norfolk, Va., and distributed during a Tidewater Area Stand Down to help local homeless and needy veterans and their families. Local veterans who are currently homeless, at-risk of becoming homeless, and in some case their dependents, have been the recipients of the goods from the shipment.
