June 29, 2012: Feeding The Nations loaded and shipped a 40 foot container with 42,000 pounds of fortified rice/vegetable meals to Bujumbura, Burundi. We will be working with Trinity Church International Pastors Jamie and Lea Peters. We met the Peters in Burundi in 1994 as they hosted Dr. Lester Sumrall and the team. For almost 25 years this USA missionary couple has lived and worked in Africa. They have now planted ten churches: four in Burundi, two in Zambia, two in the DRC (Congo) and two in Malawi. The door has opened for us to partner again to feed over 600 children in several feeding centers in and around the capital of Burundi. There is severe malnutrition. One of the feeding centers closed their doors because of no food. Feeding The Nations wants to change that by providing more food over the next year.
Honduras – May 2012 Update
May 29, 2012: Feeding The Nation partnered with Food For Kidz and Hunger Plus as we shipped 43,500 pounds of food.
The fortified rice casserole packages of food went to the Association Casa de Esperanza (House of Hope). There are approximately 3,000 children being fed in the areas of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and Santa Ana. The primary outreach is at their orphanage House of Hope.
In the poverty stricken areas in Honduras, the average age for a mother is 15 years old. So children are having children. The parents are not equipped to feed a child and have no resources for raising a child. As a result, many children are orphaned or stay in the streets or dumps looking for food and anything that would help them through the day.
The 40 foot container arrived on July 12, 2012.
May 24, 2012: The 40 foot container arrived at For His Kingdom Ministries. The distributions are now taking place.
Mexico – May 2012 Update
May 31, 2012: Feeding The Nations worked with Hunger Plus to be able to ship one full semi-truck of food from southern CA to Yuma, AZ and then onward to Sonora, Mexico. The pastors in this region have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for all the food provided.
Zambia – May 2012 Update
May 2, 2012: Today FTN was able to ship 285,000 meals out of Richland, Mississippi to Lusaka, Zambia. This 40ft food container weighs 43,500 pounds (19,731 KG). This will help provide food for the 7,800 orphans in 18 different facilities where we try and provide two hot meals a day.
Haiti – May 2012 Update
May 3, 2012: FTN shipped out of California 21.25 tons of dried vegetable soup inside 116 large barrels. This food will produce over 800,000 bowls of soup and has a value of $107,000. Over 3,000 children in Port au Prince will be helped as we partner with Fishers of Men Ministries.
