We rejoice in the fact that not only were 817,000 meals provided for those in need in Nicaragua, but that because of those meals and the sharing of the gospel, over 140,000 people gave their lives to Christ. We thank our partners Way of the Cross Ministries, Global Samaritan Resources and Mission for Christ.
Ukraine: Good News from a Troubled Nation
While the Ukraine has been in the news a lot lately due to difficult political times in the nation, today we celebrate some good news. Feeding the Nations received a mission update from Heart to Heart Ministries. We have worked within the Ukraine for several years and recently provided funds to purchase and provide those in need with rice, beans, cereal, sugar, cooking oil, flour, peas and Bibles.
Svitlana, president of Heart to Heart Ministries, helped purchase and distribute the supplies in the Western part of the country. She said, “Thank you so much, Feeding the Nations, for caring and helping the Ukraine in this great time of need.” Svitlana visited several different locations, providing food and toys to the orphanages, and food and large-print Bibles for elderly homes. The new toys brought joy and many smiles from the children, the food brought much-needed nutrition, and the Bibles will continue to help spread the love of Christ to this nation.
Thank you to all who helped make this mission possible. Please continue to join with us, so we can reach more people with Christ’s love.
Finding Hope in Honduras
In 2013, Feeding the Nations reached 25 nations, including Honduras. A team of 12 visited Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on a short, but impactful trip. While there, the team fed 1,000 people.
At one school, they fed and played with over 200 kids, and then invited the local community to a church service that night.
They witnessed heart-breaking moments, such as watching people dig through piles of trash along with dogs. These people searched for any scrap of food they could find. Some desperate and homeless people had even begun opening sarcophagi in the local cemetery to sleep in at night to be safer.
But, there were also moments of great joy, such as when the team visited an orphanage that cares for 20 children. The children had come with worms, lice and no hope. Now they energetically run around, living healthy lives that are full of hope because of love and the message of Jesus Christ.

Zambia: Feeding Over 16,000 Children Daily
FTN has been working with Missions Touch Ministries (MTM) to provide 12,000 children in 35 different schools and orphanages with one or two meals each day. These children don’t have any other means of support and many still live on the streets. When the feeding programs begin in schools, enrollment doubles, as this is often the only predictable food source for these children.
Energy levels, alertness and school attendance all greatly improve after being in the program for a few months, just as Maxwell and his sister Monique (pictured below) experienced. These preschoolers came to Blessed Favor Christian School quite malnourished. Maxwell was very weak and did not have the strength to play or participate in school activities. Six months later, both children are flourishing.
We recently received a letter from Dave Keating, MTM operations director, thanking us for our support:
“Thank you so much for serving the children of Zambia with us. Without your continued support, many of these children would not have a future. On behalf of the children, parents and/or caregivers, and ourselves, may God richly bless you and your organizations in all of your future endeavors. We thank God for all of you.”
We are also working with Family Legacy International to provide 4,000 children in 17 different schools and orphanages with a meal each day. Since the program started, Family Legacy has seen amazing results. Caretakers who once refused assistance now ask for their children to join the program, and attendance has increased and become more consistent.
Thank you to all who have supported our efforts in Zambia. The waiting list to receive food continues to grow. But, you can help. Please join with us to reach more children with the love and food they so desperately need.
Syrian Refugees
There are currently over 2 million Syrian refugees. Over 1 million of them are children. After hearing news reports of chemical weapons attacks, it is understandable why so many would be fleeing the nation for surrounding areas. But, the exodus is causing an unprecedented strain on neighboring communities and nations. Many of the Syrian refugees have gone to Lebanon, which currently has the highest number of refugees in the region and is now facing catastrophic problems as a result.
These Syrian refugees leave behind their homes and livelihoods in the hopes for better living conditions for them and their families. However, the reality is that what they have encountered upon leaving Syria is starvation, improper housing and unsafe living conditions for them and their families.
Some have become so desperate that they have begun selling or leasing their children to earn money and provide for their families. George Saad, president of TREA recently said. “The situation in Lebanon is getting worse by the day, as a larger number of refugees are entering the Lebanese territory fleeing from the war in Syria. And as their duration here is being extended with no means of earning money, their desperation is so deep,” He goes on to say, “We have been recently confronted with the issue that many Syrian refugees are ‘selling’ and ‘leasing’ their children in return of money so that they can make ends meet. A mother ‘leased’ or should I say ‘mortgaged’ her 11-month-old daughter to a neighbor for the amount of $400 so that she could buy medication for her dying father. Mothers and fathers are literally ‘selling’ their daughters as young as 13 years old in return of money. Yes, the situation is worsening, be it socially, morally or financially.”
The UN Refugee Agency estimates that there are over 450,000 Syrian refugees currently in Lebanon. With the recent chemical weapons that were targeted at Syrian civilians even more people are fleeing the nation and leaving behind everything, hoping to find better safer living conditions. Instead, they are faced with starvation, poor living conditions and no source of income.
In an effort to alleviate some of their struggles, Feeding The Nations provided food and supplies to assist over 600 families and is preparing to provide more family boxes to those in need. FTN provided funding for hundreds of boxes of food purchased in country that included items such as rice, pasta, salt, sugar, flour, beans, oil, milk, blankets and mattresses. Pastor Saad reported that one of the areas that received a portion of the boxes was in such a troubled location that they had difficulties finding drivers and volunteers who would go distribute the food.
Our hearts break with the news of what is happening in Syria and Lebanon. We cannot even begin to personally understand the depth of desperation these families must be experiencing. We pray that this food will provide some relief for the refugees. We also pray that they will find comfort and hope in Christ.
