Feeding The Nations worked with missionary Gary Cooper in Sarajevo to help provide food boxes to 170 needy families during the Christmas season. Bosnia is experiencing an unemployment rate of 35%. Each food box was filled with important staples like flour, rice, beans, sugar, soap, oil soup and other necessities. Gary, a long-time friend, distributed the food supplies to through the local church, the Sarajevo School for Deaf Children and the Ilija Church. The local church has a food bank where many people come each month for aid. They also work with an organization that helps children undergoing treatment for cancer. These kids are in the recovery process and many of their families are in need. The Sarajevo School of Deaf Children has over 70 children from all over Bosnia. Many of these children live with foster families that receive little or no compensation for their help. The Ilija Church, located in a suburb of Sarajevo, helps with two refugee centers. These people have lost their homes, jobs, etc., due to the condition of the remnants of the war.
