August 24, 2012: The 4th container was loaded out of Maryland and left the port of Baltimore on September 3, in transit to Kigali, Rwanda. This brings Feeding The Nations to a total of 1.1 million meals in 2012 for Rwanda. God is so good. Our goal was 1 million meals and we have exceeded that total.
Zambia – July 2012 Update
On July 19, 2012: FTN partnered with Global Assistance and Feed My Starving Children for a project to Zambia. One 40 foot container was loaded and shipped from Schaumburg, IL with 272,160 rice/vegetable meals, weighing 42,322 pounds. This wonderful food will help support and feed now 8,100 children (many orphans) in and around Lusaka.
Mexico – July 2012 Update
On July 31, 2012 FTN received a blessing from Feed My Starving Children of 272,160 rice/vegetable meals. FTN then partnered with Root International for a Mexico project. A 53 foot semi-truck was loaded out of Minnesota and moved to El Paso, Texas. The 42,322 pounds of food was off-loaded into a USA warehouse and is being cleared by the Mexican authorities to move the full 35 pallets into Mexico. An update will follow very soon on all the distribution sites.
On July 2, 2012 FTN partnered with Hunger Plus and shipped 42,000 pounds of dried vegetable soup valued at $106,500. This soup was trucked to Yuma, AZ and was off-loaded and prepared for shipment to move across the border. This soup will be delivered to several cities and rural villages in northern Mexico. The main region will be San Luis in Sonora, Mexico.
Rwanda – July 2012 Update
July 13, 2012: The third container was loaded and shipped out of Marietta, GA thanks to our food donating partner Stop Hunger Now. We loaded the 43,500 pounds on July 13th, enough packaged rice/vegetable meals to provide 285,000 servings.
FTN has now provided 830,000 meals toward the three refugee camps in and around the capital city of Kigali. Our 2012 goal is to ship at least 1 million meals. As we near our goal we thank all of our friends and partners who help make this possible. The shipping cost to move each 40 foot container from the USA to Rwanda is about $12,000, but the value of the food is ten times as great as the shipping cost.
July 6, 2012: The second container arrived in Kigali on July 6, 2012. The same quick efforts went into motion in clearing and off-loading this food for the distribution at these camps:
1. Nyabiheke
2. Kiziba
3. Gihembe
The food will be distributed very soon as arrangements are being made for the trucking of the food to the camps.
Malawi – July 2012 Update
July 23rd: FTN was provided with 42,322 pounds of rice/vegetable meals. This full 40 foot container will make and serve 272,160 meals. We would like to thank Feed My Starving Children for making this possible. Now FTN will partner with Global Assistance to insure this food is delivered to Partners in Harvest-Iris Africa.
