Last year we were able to reach people in Indiana, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina with food and vitamins thanks to partnerships with groups such as World Assist, Christian Outreach International and Isaiah 58 Projects. We look forward to when our warehouse is completed so that we can undertake more domestic outreaches. The warehouse will open up more doors to receive and distribute more food within our own country.
Zambia: Feeding 17,000 Daily
Feeding The Nations is now helping to feed 17,000 children daily in Zambia in 35 different Christian schools and orphanages, an increase over the previous 8,000 children in 17 facilities. So far this year, we have sent 257,000 pounds (128 tons) of food. Once it arrives, the food is stored in a secure warehouse in the capital of Lusaka as it awaits weekly deliveries that are overseen by Mission Touch Ministries (MTM).
Zambia is listed as one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. Approximately one-quarter of the nation’s population is infected with HIV/AIDs. Many of the 1 million of the country’s 11 million people are street children who have been orphaned because of HIV/AIDs, malaria, cholera and other diseases. The food we are providing is vital to the children receiving it. Without it, they would not attend school because they would spend their days searching for food in the streets and dumps. While in school, we can feed their bodies, minds and souls.
We are grateful of our partnership with MTM. Because of them, the food reaches the children safely and securely. Founders, Dave and Connie Keating, sent this thank-you note:
Feeding The Nations’ overwhelmingly kind response to help provide life-saving food and basic care supplies for the people of Zambia will help brighten the future and give hope and promise to those people wanting to learn. Missions Touch Ministries extends our thanks and gratitude on behalf of these facilities for your contributions and continued support of this most worthy cause. On behalf of the Zambian people who have directly benefited, and their families, we say thank you and may God richly continue to bless you.
While we thank those who have joined with us to make this possible, we pray that we will be able to reach more. Right now, 5,000 children in need of assistance remain on a waiting list. We can do more. Will you join with us in reaching Zambia?
Philippines: 2.3 Million Meals Distributed
2.3 Million Meals Distributed
When Typhoon Haiyan—the strongest storm recorded at landfall— struck the Philippines last November, Feeding The Nations immediately sprung into action with a multi-phase plan to meet immediate and ongoing needs. Recently, the 2.3 million meals we sent were distributed to children, orphans, families, elderly and refugees who are still recovering from the devastating storm.
“The donated food helped in the recovery of the school children’s nutrient deficiency, especially that we were mostly coming from less privileged families. Moreover, these children were among the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, who were seriously devastated by the said natural disaster,” one of our distribution partners reported. “They were very much overwhelmed and grateful for the blessing they received.”
As the children in one school received meals of the specially formulated rice and vegetable meals, one mother noticed that the children “have gained weight and became more active. In effect, they became more interested in going to school and have been participating class discussion more actively.”
We thank our partners who made this possible, including World Compassion Network, Warsaw, Ind.; Global Samaritan Resources, Abilene, Texas; Gleanings for the Hungry; Feed My Starving Children; and Stop Hunger Now.
We pray that you will join with us as we reach more people around the world with food and the love of Christ.
Israel: Blessing God’s Chosen
We are firm believers in Genesis 12:3 and that God blesses those who bless Israel. We have heard from many who would like to help Israel, so we are pleased to announce the start of a new outreach aimed at doing just that. Each month, we will provide the Voice of Judah Israel with funds to purchase food for hungry Israelis. Not only will the food help ease their hunger, but the funds will help their local economy by keeping purchases within the country, thus benefitting local businesses.
Astonishingly, 1.77 million of Israel’s residents are needy. Almost half of those are children. We look forward to working alongside Voice of Judah Israel and Pastor Israel in reaching these people. The organization’s goal is to help feed the poor, while revealing to them the love of God in a practical way. Their focus is on the orphans, widows, single mothers, Holocaust survivors, World War 2 veterans and the elderly. They are helping to raise a generation of servant leaders with sensitivity to the needs of their community.
At the beginning of each month, the organization purchases all the supplies needed to put together food packets. Each packet costs $20 and helps supply a family with essential food items for one month. The packets are assembled by a team of volunteers and workers at the food distribution center. The center opens once a month to pass out the packets and welcome people to sit down and enjoy some coffee or tea as they talk with volunteers. People often open up and share their struggles, while the Voice of Judah Israel volunteers and workers share hope and prayer with them. For those who are unable to go to the distribution center, the team delivers their food packets to their home.
Voice of Judah Israel works closely with municipalities who often see them as a blessing to their cities and communities. They often receive requests to help more people. While their hearts desire to help as many as they possibly can, they need our help in reaching more.
Malawi: The Gratitude of Children
The following is an actual thank you note we received for our efforts in feeding the hungry in Malawi. To help us reach more children like Wonderful Thomas, please click here. No donation is too small and its affects cannot be understated.
Thanks to the Lord, who makes it possible for people to share gifts. He is a Father who generously gives. This Manna Pack is an answer to families who are not able to provide for their families. Our Father said He wouldn’t leave us homeless or uncared for but would provide for us.
God provides for us differently and through different people. The Manna Pack has kept a lot of people going when they have nothing to eat. I enjoy eating the rice very much. It is given to many:
The old who can no longer work,
Those with disabilities,
Those who have faced floods,
The young without parents to care,
And the sick who can’t work.
I thank you for the good rice; it has got good taste and it is very healthy as well.
If I was working with you I would say: you have the best idea, a great solution to hunger.
May the Lord above all bless you for this blessing unto our lives. May this gift reach all that are in need of it by God’s guidance.
May His name be glorified.
Wonderful Thomas (Wonderful is my name.)
Thank you to all who have supported our efforts in Malawi. There are more children like Wonderful Thomas who need that nourishment. Please join with us in reaching them.
