We recently provided over 272,000 meals that have blessed over 400 children in El Salvador. These protein-fortified meals have been distributed to school children, and as a result, their health has improved and school attendance has increased! This is about more than providing a bowl of rice. This is about giving hope for the future!
The following is from a report we received in response to the shipment:
In this School Center, the daily attendance of children to school was very low. Children were very hungry and had very little energy to learn and pay attention to classes. Over time, they lost interest and parents did not motivate them to continue attending school. Each day we had fewer students in the classrooms.
Since we started distributing the rice meals, the attendance of children has increased significantly. The parents have begun taking the children to school, very happy knowing that there they will receive food every day and will be well nourished.
We have also invited parents to come to school to teach them the different ways they can cook these meals for which they have been very grateful and enthusiastic.
We have seen a great change in all children. They are learning faster, are more attentive and eager to learn new things each day.
Every week we are seeing new students arrive from around the area. They come to school happy to study, knowing that they will have good food for themselves and their families.
